Sugary foods and drinks in pregnancy and allergies in newborn

Women who consume too many sugary foods and drinks in pregnancy may be increasing their children’s risk of developing allergy or allergic asthma. These findings were reported in the European Respiratory Journal recently. However, we do not know the impact of consuming increased sugar intake in early pregnancy as this study did not examine the mother’s sugar intake until after 32 weeks of pregnancy.
